Dr. Jarren Section, MD, is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with expertise in the treatment of an extensive range of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal conditions including, but not limited to, degenerative, deformity/scoliosis, traumatic, oncologic, and infectious conditions of the spine. These conditions may severely affect a patient’s quality of life by causing neck, back, and/or extremity pain or paralysis. Dr. Section specializes in procedures ranging from minimally invasive and microscope-assisted to complex reconstructive surgeries.
Dr. Section received his spine surgery training at one of the most premier spine fellowships in the nation— the University of Rochester “Louis A. Goldstein Fellowship” in Rochester, NY. This highly prestigious, competitive, and rigorous training opportunity is awarded to only one fellow per year. Through his fellowship, Dr. Section mastered numerous open and minimally invasive surgical techniques used to treat a vast array of adult and pediatric spinal conditions while working alongside the most prominent and well-respected leaders in the field of spine surgery.
Prior to his specialization in spine surgery, Dr. Section attended Texas Southern University in Houston, TX, for his undergraduate education, the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth, TX, for his master’s degree, which was earned with honors, and the University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas, TX, where he earned his medical degree. He completed surgical residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
Dr. Section is an accomplished researcher and has published manuscripts in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, including a lead article in Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. With a diverse background of knowledge in the management of spinal ailments, Dr. Section has been involved in teaching fellow spine surgeons in AO Spine North America as a guest lecturer. He is an active member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Section has a personal interest in the development of advanced spine surgical techniques and implants.
Dr. Section is dedicated to providing individualized, multidisciplinary care to his patients. He advocates for conservative, nonoperative treatment options as the initial approach for most spinal conditions with the understanding that surgery should only be considered if nonoperative treatments do not provide adequate symptom relief.
When he is not working hard in the hospital, Dr. Section enjoys reading, performing genealogical research, fitness training, and spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter, Dr. Hala Mouneimne and Layla Section.
